Responsibilities

  • The Accounting Specialist will review and process vendor invoices and make payments in a timely manner via checks, wire transfers and ACH payments
  • Review and record payroll data, commissions, and expenses on a monthly basis
  • Prepare and maintain monthly spreadsheets and reports for corporate office
  • Perform month-end journal entries, including upload to consolidated financial system
  • Assist in preparation of monthly account reconciliations for corporate office
  • Support accounts receivables function for US office, including follow-up on overdue invoices and involvement in the collections process for US customer accounts
  • Provide customer service to vendors or customers related to their invoices
  • Reconcile balance sheet to appropriate sub-ledgers to General Ledger
  • Support internal business travellers and candidates with processes such as per diem payment and expense management
  • Prepare the payroll journal and ensure maintenance of required supporting documentation in partnership with Human Resources
  • Partner with US Human Resources team and Accounting Supervisor to identify anomalies in benefit billing statements, employee payroll deductions and/or other benefit programs and rectify any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Partner with the US Accounting Supervisor to participate in financial and tax audits as needed

Requirements

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting is strongly preferred, as well as any relevant certifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in general accounting support
  • 1+ years’ experience using accounting software is required; Work experience with Quickbooks is preferred
  • Experience with accrual-based accounting practices is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas, formatting, linking cells/workbooks, and frequent use of pivot tables and v-lookups is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal professional communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and aptitude for numbers and data
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain routine processes as well as develop new processes and create efficiencies in support of organizational growth
  • Strong organization and process-development skills
  • Ability to work full-time, 30-40 hours per week (determined by leader), Monday-Friday with ability to travel international 1-2x/year is required
